Anthropic is accelerating its European expansion as demand for enterprise AI solutions grows across the region. The AI startup plans significant hiring growth and sees Europe as a strategic market for both AI adoption and discussions around ethical AI governance.
AI startup Anthropic is ramping up its European expansion strategy after officially opening a new office in Milan, marking its sixth location on the continent. The move comes as businesses across Europe increasingly invest in artificial intelligence technologies to improve productivity and streamline operations.
According to company executives, Anthropic intends to significantly increase its international workforce over the coming years to support growing demand for its Claude family of large language models outside the United States. The company already maintains operations in London, Dublin, Paris, Munich, and Zurich, with additional expansion plans under consideration.
Anthropic’s leadership indicated that its European offices are expected to grow substantially, particularly in key markets such as London, Paris, Munich, and Milan. While specific hiring targets for Italy have not been disclosed, the company confirmed that the Milan office will play an important role in serving local enterprises and supporting regional growth initiatives.
Initially, the Milan team will focus on sales, marketing, and technical support functions, helping organizations integrate AI solutions into their operations. Anthropic already works with several major European companies across industries including finance, insurance, manufacturing, technology, and digital payments.
Beyond commercial growth, the company is also investing in policy and ethics expertise. Executives emphasized the importance of engaging with governments, regulators, and public institutions as discussions around AI safety, governance, and workforce impact continue to evolve.
Anthropic has positioned itself as a leading advocate for responsible AI development, frequently emphasizing transparency, safety standards, and safeguards around advanced AI systems. The company’s focus on ethical deployment has helped distinguish it within the rapidly growing AI sector, where debates over regulation and societal impact are becoming increasingly prominent.
As AI adoption accelerates across Europe, Anthropic’s expansion signals growing competition among global AI companies seeking to establish stronger local presence, recruit specialized talent, and support enterprise customers navigating the next phase of digital transformation.
