The government is ending temporary fuel sale restrictions introduced to manage supply risks caused by global disruptions. The move restores normal purchasing rules for petrol and diesel beginning July 1.
India will remove the temporary restrictions on petrol and diesel sales starting July 1, according to a government order issued on Monday.
The measures were introduced earlier this month after the conflict in the Middle East disrupted global supply chains. As part of those temporary rules, commercial fuel buyers were not allowed to purchase petrol and diesel from retail fuel stations, while daily diesel purchases were also capped to help avoid local supply shortages.
With the restrictions set to expire, normal fuel sales will resume from July 1.
