Motorola is aggressively targeting the premium mid-range market by bringing flagship-style periscope photography features into a more affordable segment, where camera performance has become a major buying factor.
Motorola has officially announced the India launch date for its upcoming premium smartphone, the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+, which is scheduled to debut on June 4. The device will become the fourth smartphone in the latest Edge 70 series lineup, joining the Edge 70, Edge 70 Fusion and Edge 70 Pro.
The smartphone is expected to position itself as Motorola’s most premium offering in the Edge 70 series, with a major focus on photography upgrades and premium design elements.
One of the biggest highlights of the Motorola Edge 70 Pro+ is its newly confirmed 50MP periscope telephoto camera featuring 3.5x optical zoom. This marks a significant upgrade over the standard Edge 70 Pro, which lacks a dedicated periscope lens. Motorola is clearly targeting users interested in advanced zoom photography, wildlife shots, long-distance photography and portrait imaging.
The device will also feature a 50MP Sony Lytia 710 primary sensor with optical image stabilisation support. Motorola has confirmed additional camera-focused features including AI-powered 50x Super Zoom Pro, enhanced night photography capabilities and advanced frame stabilisation technology.
Industry observers believe the Edge 70 Pro+ will directly compete with other premium mid-range smartphones offering periscope camera systems, especially devices from brands such as Realme and Xiaomi.
Motorola is also heavily focusing on design and aesthetics for the new smartphone. The Edge 70 Pro+ will launch in three Pantone-themed finishes:
- Pantone Chicory Coffee with sculpted wood texture
- Pantone Stormy Sea with twill-inspired finish
- Pantone Zinfandel with satin-luxe texture
The smartphone additionally features a dedicated side button positioned on the left frame, which is expected to offer shortcut functionality or AI-related controls.
The company has confirmed that the Edge 70 Pro+ will be sold via Flipkart in India and is likely to launch with introductory offers and discounts during the initial sale period.
While Motorola has not yet officially revealed the full specifications, pricing or chipset details, the smartphone is expected to target buyers looking for premium camera hardware, stylish design and flagship-inspired features in the upper mid-range category.
Analysts say Motorola’s increasing focus on camera innovation and premium design language could help strengthen its position in India’s competitive Android smartphone market, particularly among users seeking alternatives to Samsung, OnePlus and Xiaomi devices.
