Oracle is reportedly considering further workforce reductions as it continues directing significant resources toward AI and cloud infrastructure. While September 1 has emerged as a key date, the company has not officially confirmed that layoffs will take place.

Oracle is reportedly preparing for another possible round of workforce reductions, with September 1 emerging as a date employees are closely watching. Managers have reportedly been asked to identify positions that could be eliminated as the company looks to reduce payroll while continuing to invest heavily in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.

The reports follow a significant workforce reduction during Oracle's fiscal 2026. The company's employee count reportedly declined from about 162,000 to approximately 141,000, representing a reduction of around 21,000 employees. In India, reports indicated that as many as 12,000 employees were affected.

Oracle's workforce reductions occurred alongside increased spending on cloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence. The company also recorded substantial restructuring costs during the period.

The possibility of another round of cuts has also brought attention to what employees have described as Oracle's "6 a.m. email." During the March layoffs, some employees reportedly learned about their job status through early-morning emails from Oracle Leadership rather than through meetings with managers. The notifications also informed affected employees that access to company systems, including computers, email and files, would be deactivated.

Oracle's increased focus on AI and cloud infrastructure requires significant capital investment. As the company directs resources toward these areas, it is also reportedly looking to control costs elsewhere, creating uncertainty for employees despite continued growth in AI and cloud-related business.

However, Oracle has not officially confirmed that a company-wide layoff will take place on September 1. Reports indicate that managers have been asked to identify roles that could potentially be eliminated, but the company has not announced the number of employees who may be affected or confirmed that layoffs will begin on that date.
