Singapore's AI job market continues to expand rapidly, driving strong salary growth across technical roles. With demand exceeding talent supply, professionals with practical AI skills are well-positioned to benefit from the sector's growth.
Singapore's artificial intelligence job market is seeing significant salary growth, with compensation for AI professionals increasing much faster than overall wage growth across the country.
According to recruitment firm Robert Walters, salaries for AI-related positions have risen by approximately 15% to 25% over the past year. Entry-level professionals entering the field can earn between $70,000 and $90,000 annually. In comparison, Singapore's overall nominal wage growth for full-time employees was reported at 4.9% in 2025.
Recruiters say demand remains especially strong for positions in AI engineering, machine learning, data science, AI product management, and AI governance. Companies are moving beyond experimentation and increasingly deploying AI technologies across business operations, creating sustained demand for skilled professionals.
International competition for AI talent is also increasing. Chinese technology companies are reportedly offering compensation packages exceeding $200,000 annually to attract PhD graduates from Singapore's leading universities. Meanwhile, both Chinese and American firms continue expanding AI hiring efforts within Singapore.
Recent investments have further strengthened the market. OpenAI announced a commitment of more than $300 million toward Singapore's applied AI ecosystem, including plans for an Applied AI Lab and training initiatives expected to support more than 200 technical roles in the coming years. Other global AI companies are also expanding their local presence.
Despite growing opportunities, the supply of qualified AI professionals remains limited. Employers frequently face longer hiring timelines due to intense competition for experienced candidates. Universities have responded by expanding AI-related programmes, while educational institutions are introducing new degree and specialist diploma courses to help meet industry demand.
Industry recruiters note that practical experience, technical skills, and hands-on AI projects are often sufficient for many entry-level and mid-level positions. However, senior research and leadership roles can command compensation approaching $350,000 and may require advanced academic qualifications.
Experts encourage professionals and students to build AI-related skills and gain practical exposure, as employers increasingly value candidates who can apply AI technologies in real-world business environments.
